Back to Back With: Google Desktop

by on , under Computers and Internet

When we refer to a computer desktop, most often, we tend to refer to what we see right on our computer screens once we turn on the computer. But the Google Desktop is an all new, value added feature that is quite like a desktop and yet different. It is different basically because it is actually an online feature which helps us computer users get our files and all our other computer stuff in great shape and perfectly organized.

The Main Purpose: Searching

Just like the Google that we have all come to know of, those who invented Google have come up with a means that will make browsing our very own computers and computer files much, much easier. When we have Google Desktop enabled in our computer sets, we will get to search all our data and multimedia files, cached web pages we have surfed on quite a few times already, and even our e-mail and chat conversations as easy as when we go searching on Google for information on Google Adsense alternatives or for details on Google Books. With Google Desktop, we computer users are freed from the task of having to create new folders and collate files from time to time just so we will be able to find them; we basically just enter the keyword on the search tab, just like how we do it on the Google Search Engine, and hit on the enter key.

Also, with Google Desktop, computer users get the functionality to know if something new is coming up in their system. For example, if they are getting new e-mails, or if they are getting new updates on their favorite music videos, on news and current events, and on weather conditions. Talk about getting a computer to work in a manner that shouts, “Personalized!”

Other Features of Google Desktop

Aside from providing computer users with search and use, organizational, and a kind of “update” capability, Google Desktop also presents computer users with various other options that they can consider value added features to their Google Desktop. One favorite is Google Gadgets. These are mini apps such as news, weather updates, clock, new e-mail alarm, calendar, and even a scratch pad and to do list that one can place on the browser for the computer user to be able to easily get in touch with these apps when they’re needed. Installing Google Gadgets is best when the user has got favorite gadgets, say, for example, Itunes or several other music channel gadgets and download Google books.
